General
Is TTSWP free?
Yes. The free plan includes 10,000 welcome credits and the core features: standard voices, automatic player on published posts, the shortcode generator, and basic statistics. No credit card is needed to start.
Paid plans add premium neural voices, cloud storage, larger monthly credit allowances, and features like Speech-to-Text, voice cloning, and the Sticky Footer Player.
What are credits and how do they work?
One credit equals one character of text turned into audio. A 500-word blog post uses about 3,000 credits. A 3,000-word article uses about 18,000 credits. Playback is free and unlimited - credits are only spent when you generate new audio.
See Credits and plans explained.
What happens when my monthly credits run out?
Your existing audio keeps playing. New audio cannot be generated unless one of these applies:
- You have top-up credits (they kick in automatically)
- You have connected your own ElevenLabs API key (BYOK)
- You wait for your next monthly reset (paid plans)
- You upgrade or buy a top-up pack
Free plans do not have a monthly reset, so once the 10,000 welcome credits are gone you need to top up, upgrade, or connect an ElevenLabs key.
Can I cancel my subscription anytime?
Yes. Go to app.ttswp.com/billing and click Cancel. You keep your paid plan until the end of the current billing period, then automatically drop to the Free plan. You keep your existing audio and any purchased top-up credits.
Privacy and data
Do you store the text I convert?
We send your text to ElevenLabs to produce the audio. After the audio is created, the text is not kept on ElevenLabs servers. TTSWP does not store your post text long-term.
The generated audio file is stored on our cloud (paid plans) or on your WordPress server (Free plan). You can delete any audio at any time from the Audio Library.
Is TTSWP GDPR compliant?
Yes. We collect only what is needed to run your account: email, site domain, plan tier, and usage logs. Visitors who listen to your audio are not identified personally. See Privacy and data handling for full details.
Can I host the audio files on my own server or S3?
On paid plans, yes. Audio files are served from our CloudFront CDN by default, but you can also offload to your own Amazon S3 bucket. See Cloud audio storage.
Performance and SEO
Does TTSWP slow down my site?
No. The audio player is lazy-loaded, meaning it does not load until the user scrolls close to it. The player JavaScript is small and does not block page rendering. Core Web Vitals remain unaffected on typical installs.
Does TTSWP help with SEO?
Yes, in two ways:
- Engagement - audio players increase dwell time, which is a positive signal for search rankings
- Structured data - every post with audio gets an AudioObject JSON-LD schema so Google knows the page has an audio version
Does TTSWP work with my caching plugin?
Yes. TTSWP is tested with WP Rocket, LiteSpeed Cache, W3 Total Cache, and WP Super Cache. The plugin automatically adds its own JS and CSS to cache exclusion lists where needed. See Caching plugins.
Integrations
Does TTSWP work with WPML, Polylang, Weglot, or TranslatePress?
Yes. WPML and Weglot have dedicated integration toggles. You can assign a different voice per language.
Does TTSWP work with WooCommerce?
Yes. Turn on audio for Products on the Content settings page. Customers can listen to product descriptions right on the product page. See WooCommerce integration.
Does TTSWP work with Elementor, Divi, or Gutenberg?
Yes. TTSWP works with all major page builders: Elementor, Divi, Visual Composer, Gutenberg, and the classic editor.
Technical
Can I use TTSWP on a multisite network?
Yes. Each subsite connects independently and has its own credit balance and plan. The Agency plan allows you to share one credit pool across multiple sites.
Does TTSWP work offline?
Playback of already-generated audio works offline (once the file is cached in the user's browser). Generating new audio needs an internet connection to reach app.ttswp.com and ElevenLabs.
What happens when I uninstall the plugin?
You can choose. The plugin asks whether to keep or delete all generated audio on uninstall. Your posts and theme are not touched. See Uninstall and data removal.
Can I use my own ElevenLabs voice (cloned voice)?
Yes, on paid plans. Clone a voice in your ElevenLabs account, copy the voice ID, and paste it into TTSWP. See Voice cloning.
