Quick start in five minutes

5 min read

This is the fast track. In five steps you will install the plugin, connect your site, and generate your first audio. No API keys to configure, no coding, no external accounts required to start.

Before you start

You will need:

  • A WordPress site (version 6.0 or newer)
  • Admin access to that site
  • Five minutes

That is it. You do not need an ElevenLabs account, credit card, or any other service.

Step 1: Install the plugin

In your WordPress admin, go to Plugins → Add New. Search for Text to Speech TTSWP. Click Install Now, then Activate.

A new Text to Speech menu appears in your admin sidebar.

Step 2: Connect your site

Click Text to Speech → Overview. You will see a purple Connect Card at the top. Click Get Started.

A new tab opens on app.ttswp.com. Sign up or log in. Your site connects automatically and you get 10,000 welcome credits.

When you return to WordPress, the Connect Card is gone and the Overview page shows your Quick Stats.

Step 3: Pick a voice

Go to Text to Speech → Voices. Pick your language from the list. Click the play icon next to any voice to preview it. When you find one you like, click Select.

TTSWP now uses this voice for every post you generate, unless you override it later.

Step 4: Generate your first audio

Go to Posts → All Posts. A new TTS column appears on the right. Find any post and click Generate in that column.

The plugin sends your post text to TTSWP. Generation takes a few seconds for a typical blog post, up to a minute for a long one.

When it finishes, the column shows four small icons: Play, Download, Regenerate, and Delete.

Step 5: See the player on your site

Open the post you just generated on the front-end of your site. The audio player appears below your title by default.

Click play. Your post is now an audio file.
