Admin bar menu

2 min read

TTSWP adds a Text to Speech menu to the WordPress admin bar (the black bar at the top). Use it to jump to any plugin page without opening the sidebar. Works on both the backend and your site frontend when you are logged in.

Where the menu lives

The admin bar sits at the top of every WordPress screen for logged-in users. The TTSWP menu appears between the other items, with the TTSWP icon on its left.

Hovering the main item expands a dropdown.

  • Language & Voices - jumps to the Voices page
  • Customize Audio Player - jumps to the Player page
  • Shortcode Generator - the shortcode generator tool
  • Audio Statistics - engagement stats
  • My Plan & Credits - your account page
  • Documentation - opens these docs in a new tab

Upgrade to PRO (free users only)

Free-plan users with a connected site see an additional Upgrade to PRO link, styled in brand purple. Clicking it takes you to the upgrade page.

The link is hidden for users already on Pro or Agency plans.

When the menu does NOT appear

  • On login and signup screens (admin bar is hidden by default)
  • For users without manage_options capability (subscribers, contributors, authors)
  • On the post preview mode of some themes
  • When the admin bar is hidden entirely (some themes disable it)

Hiding the menu

Agency users who want to remove TTSWP branding for clients can hide the admin bar menu:

  1. Go to Text to Speech → White Label.
  2. Flip Hide admin bar menu on.
  3. Save.

The menu disappears for all users on that site.
