Your credits are the fuel for audio generation. This page shows you where to check your balance, how the monthly reset works, and the order TTSWP uses different credit pools.
Where to check your balance
Three places show your current credit count.
Overview page
The Quick Stats card shows a headline number: Credits remaining. Updates right after every generation.
My Plan & Credits
Go to Text to Speech → My Plan & Credits for the detailed view:
- Monthly balance - credits from your plan that reset every month
- Top-up balance - credits you have bought, never expire
- Next reset date - when your monthly balance refills
- Plan tier - what you are paying for
ElevenLabs BYOK status
On the Overview page, below Quick Stats, you see your ElevenLabs account stats (when you have a key connected):
- Remaining ElevenLabs credits
- Monthly limit
- Tier
- Reset date
When credits reset
Monthly credits reset on your billing date. For example, if you started your subscription on the 5th, your monthly credits reset on the 5th of each month.
- Unused monthly credits do not roll over to the next month
- Top-up credits never expire or reset
- Welcome credits (on Free) never expire
Order of credit use
When you generate audio, TTSWP uses credit pools in this order:
- Monthly credits (from your plan, if any)
- Top-up credits (packs you have bought)
- Your ElevenLabs account (BYOK, if connected)
- Stop with an error (if none of the above are available)
You do not need to pick the order. The plugin handles it.
What shows up in "ElevenLabs credits per month"
If you have your own ElevenLabs key connected, the Overview page shows your ElevenLabs account stats separately. This is not the same as your TTSWP credits:
- TTSWP credits are tracked on app.ttswp.com
- ElevenLabs credits are tracked on elevenlabs.io
- The two are independent
Free ElevenLabs accounts give you 10,000 character credits every month. Paid ElevenLabs tiers give more.
If you set a per-key character limit on your ElevenLabs key (in the ElevenLabs dashboard or on app.ttswp.com), TTSWP displays that limit instead of the account-wide cap.
Usage history
Go to Text to Speech → My Stats for a breakdown of how you have spent credits:
- Credits used per day (last 30 days)
- Top voices by usage
- Most-generated posts
- Cost estimate (for BYOK users)
What happens when you run out
With no backup (no BYOK, no top-up, zero monthly):
- Manual Generate buttons show an "out of credits" message
- Auto-generate on publish silently skips new posts (you get a notice on the post editor)
- Playback of existing audio keeps working
To keep generating, choose one:
- Wait for your next monthly reset (paid plans)
- Buy a top-up pack
- Connect your ElevenLabs key
- Upgrade your plan
